CELEBRATING 25 YEARS AT THE MARKET!

S. Clyde and Emma Weaver married in 1920, the same year they decided to, in their own words, “take the little they had and go to market.” A business was started at their home in East Petersburg, PA with each of them leaning on family traditions in preparing and selling food products.

Fresh meat was peddled to Lancaster City’s Northern Market and shortly thereafter bacon, dried beef, bologna and cheeses, such as Cheddar, were also introduced. Three hundred pound blocks of ice were used to store these food items safely in the house cellar.

As the business expanded and outgrew the home-front, a new facility was constructed along Main Street, south of East Petersburg. A smokehouse, refrigerated space, retail store, and, eventually, a bakery, made it possible for the S. Clyde Weaver business to grow their product lines substantially.

This store (now with café) on Main Street has been the “home base” for employees to take SCW products to markets locally and throughout the region. Today, the third and fourth generations of the Weaver family continue to lead the tradition of taking what we have and going to market, placing an emphasis on quality and personal caring service.
